The founder of SSZ Global, Shamil Kairudeen, is an Accountant with over 20 years of experience in the finance industry. Prior to becoming an Accountant, after leaving school, Shamil worked for Nestle in Sri Lanka, in the FMCG sector, as an Area Sales Manager. From this role, Shamil developed his interest in numbers, and then wanted to pursue the dream of becoming an accredited Accountant.
Shamil started his accountancy practice experience with Grant Thornton International while studying for his CIMA qualifications. From there Shamil moved on to work with KPMG, where he worked in audit as well as consultancy. In this role, Shamil worked with a range of private and large public companies across several industry sectors including Hospitality, Manufacturing and Technology.
After leaving the practice, Shamil started his commercial experience in the Hospitality industry in London, and then moved to Edinburgh where he worked for a global Hospitality group. To give himself wider commercial encompassing experience and understanding, Shamil decided to move away from the Hospitality industry to a Not-for-profit sector. He also has worked for bespoke and large organisations (including FTSE 100 companies) in his successful career to date.
Shamil has experience in UK GAAP, IFRS, and a wide range of commercial finance including accounts payable/receivable, management/statutory accounting, VAT (including partial exemption techniques), relationship with statutory auditors, payroll processing, in-house finance/payroll recruitments, process improvements (such as purchase to pay, new finance and forecasting/reporting systems), implementation of Internal controls processes, finance systems project management, and training and coaching finance and non-finance colleagues.
